We opened our family millennium time capsule this past Christmas... found a Beanie Baby!

This past Christmas, my family decided to open a time capsule that we threw a lot of random (meaningful) stuff into for Y2K. I was 9 years old in 2000, so my peak Beanie Babies era!

We opened and the time capsule and look what we found sitting at top! Curly! I don’t remember him being very popular, I have a feeling that I put him in the time capsule because he wasn’t one of my favorites… aka I was ok to part with him… LOL!

He’s in great condition. He still has his tag on him with no bends or marks. Just imagine if Beanie Babies were actually worth millions that we once thought they would be!!!

Very cool! did you ever explore how much Curly is worth now out of interest? Also wish I had done a time capsule would have enjoyed founding some of the old school action figures I used to have.

This Curly has a few errors on the tag, which makes it rare! I think the real question is how much would someone actually pay for it… the prices on eBay for the misprinted one are around $200-400USD, but then there’s the ambitious seller on Etsy for $11K! LOL!

But then I know the reality of the Beanie Baby market isn’t what we were sold it was in the 90s – I’d be surprised if someone bought it for $50!

Although super cute, Curly only ranges about $2 to $15 on ebay sold listings… even with the errors :weary:

Curly might not be worth much to collectors, but you can’t put a price on sweet memories.

Out of curiosity, what are some of your favorite Beanies? I still have my Sly the Fox around here somewhere - we were inseparable back in the day.

I must have had 100s of Beanie Babies - I was obsessed!

I think my favorites were: Mystic the Unicorn (one of my first), Ziggy the Zebra, and Peanut the Elephant. All OGs!

Ahhhh Peanut. She and I go way back - I had a great time writing her article for the main site.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Mystic the Unicorn in person. I can’t even say I knew she existed before just now! Thanks so much for sharing that.
