Update on Thundergirl toy part search!

So, doing more investigating! I’ve found out that most of all the figures where from Hasbro toy line!

Like the conan figure for the Flesh, and Stinky diver and meltman being a G.I joe. So If anyone has knowledgeable of toyline around1990 or mainly -->1994 ← if be a huge help! I’ve been looking for wrestling toys but all I find at the time are all male. But My search continues!

Hey @Dragon28! Welcome to the community, it’s awesome to have you here - your project looks like a lot fun! As you can probably tell, this forum is in it’s early stages - but i’m really hopeful that as it grows you’ll get the support and knowledge you need to complete your Action League Now! project.

Keep us up to date as this progresses! I’ll try and do some more research - but have you looked into Lady Flash figures from the 90s? The lightening bolt seems like the key clue.

That’s what I think too! But glad to hear from someone! I literally emailed the artist of Kablam! and they put me in touch with one of the creators. Who now trying to help me get in touch with the series creator. :+1: so it’s been a fun goose chase! as I’m emailing the creator too!

Really going down the rabbit hole! Very cool. Let us know how the goose chase ends :stuck_out_tongue:

Here are the pics if it helps you in anyway? I went back and was looking at She ra figures to check but they didn’t look to match except one that was close. But still looking

First I thought we’re looking at the wrong era. Researched some figures from the 80s, such as these Golden Girls figures from Galoob. The proportions seemed close.

Then I tried using Google Lens on your pics. Other than Thundergirl figures, and like you mentioned, She-Ra came up… it has to be correct, the pelvis is identical.

And so here’s my theory…

Whatever base figure was used was likely highly modified to avoid potential copyright issues right? Greenstuff, modelling clay, etc… applied to the base She-Ra to customise her boots, bracelets and added symbol. Even increasing… erm… chest size. And then everything’s painted over.

The arms joint kind of throws the theory, but you mentioned GI Jo… the joints are VERY similar. They have even even gone with the 90s Street Fighter release if they wanted plain arms with joints. Then add a bracelent with modelling clay, use a doll hand and then paint. Plus, all this would have helped make the dolls head seem more proportial to her body.

Could help explain why it’s been impossible to find the original figure.

Hey lee, Thanks so much for helping me out! I will say I got a response off my reddit post yesterday. An I think you may be right. They showed me Peekablue figure and the torse very much looks like thunder girl with like you suggest too. green stuff or putty. I feel like looking at the OG the Thunder girl they use is alot more busty in style. and I don’t know how they did the legs to make her look rounder. but they said for legs the frost girl (first figure in the She-ra collection you posted).

As for arms they are defiantly hand craft modified. The reddit person said they think it they think it the actual Sindy doll. but I might think She-ra figure too. But with the picture you provided (first figure in bottom row left) has the look very much thunder girl!)

I will say the only thing that different is the back is much lower on Thunder girl, and she’s alot bustier

Oh yeah, the Peekablue She Ra is definitely the base figure. Really cool you were able to make progress on this. Make sure to post an update when you build the figures :star_struck:

And if you ever want to chat anything '90s, come back any time!
