Surprise! It’s the Sega Genesis!
I know, I know - technically the Genesis dropped in the late 80s, but I didn’t get my hands on one till around 1996 at the ripe age of two years old.
Thankfully, I have awesome parents who called themselves gamers at one point in their lives.
From there, my days were filled with Sonic 2, Streets of Rage 2 (which I was definitely too young to play), and ToeJam & Earl (which I still to this day haven’t figured out how to progress in).
The Sega Genesis really formed the base for my love of video games very early in my life, and it has always held a special place in my heart for that very reason.
So now I ask you, what was your quintessential console of the 90s? Which console and what games do you credit with igniting your love of gaming? I’d love to know!
